Conjunto Chappottîn performs at CSPS in Cedar Rapids, IA on Friday, July 25, 2014. Founded by the legendary Arsenio Rodríguez in the 1940s, the legendary reed and brass-fueled band has been led by the son and then grandson of first trumpet player Felix Chappottín since Rodríguez left Cuba for New York in 1950. Amazingly, this is the band’s first ever U.S. tour, playing only three cities: Lincoln Center, New York City; Skirball Center, Los Angeles, and CSPS, Cedar Rapids.
