Restaurant Waste Audit
Dave Burgess affixes duct tape to the protective gear of Northwest 7th grader Ethan Trepka, a student in the STEM program, before they audit how much waste is produced by the Applebees restaurant in Coralville Thursday December 13, 2012. The team opened the garbage bags generated by the restaurant and sorted the garbage into bins designated as food waste, compostable waste, metal, and trash that would go to the landfill, and then weighed them as part of the audit.
